Ponchos and Poncho Liners
The lightweight olive green poncho liner
could be tied inside a poncho to create a
hybrid sleeping bag or used as a blanket.
The liner provided as much insulation as a
wool blanket, but dried far quicker and weighed
considerably less.
It was first issued to Special Forces for evaluation circa 1962.

Poncho Liner 3rd Pattern 1970
The 3rd generation poncho liner was
made in the ERDL camouflage pattern.
Those soldiers who were rotating home from Vietnam
often used the 3rd pattern liner as the material for 'tour jackets'.
