Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

A cloth insignia 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width consisting of a cobalt blue arrow point with the skull of a ram silver gray detailed cobalt blue below a white star; all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) soldier red border.

Symbolism
The red border is for logistics and cobalt blue is the State color of Nevada. The silver ram’s skull refers to the State animal and the importance of silver to the state. The star is taken from the State flag and is colored white here, which represents the snow on the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved effective 1 September 2011. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-1051).

Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a circular shaped insignia with a spray of sixteen arrow points filled with translucent gold arrayed eight to the lower left and eight to the lower right issuing from behind the playing card spade shape filled black. The spade is charged with the skull of a ram between an arrow, both silver, and a star to chief white. Arched over the spade point in chief a rolled and folded red scroll inscribed with “VICTORY THROUGH” and arched to base another red scroll inscribed “ENDURANCE” in silver letters.

Symbolism
Red is for logistics. Gold describes gold ore, black signifies magnetite sand, and white is for the star of Nevada and the clouds and snow over the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The ram is the State’s animal and the 17 arrows indicate the unit’s numeric designation and the heritage of Nevada’s Indian and frontier past.
