The purpose for awarding badges is to provide recognition of the high degree of skill, proficiency and excellence in test, competition and performance of duty.
Badges are divided into 4 categories:
1. Combat and Special Skill Badges 2. Marksmanship Badges 3. Identification badges 4. Foreign badges
Subdued Black Metal: A subdued badge in black metal finish is authorized on the ACU's. Note: No sew-on badges are authorized on the Army Combat Uniform.
