Gen. Eric Shinseki, the Army chief of staff, awards Air Force Tech. Sgt. James Lamb a Bronze Star Medal for Valor and a Purple Heart for heroism and wounds received in action during intense ground combat operations against determined Taliban and al-Qaeda forces on March 3, 2002, during Operation Anaconda. His and other soldiers' valor and heroism contributed significantly to the successful mission accomplishment of U.S. and coalition forces participating in Operation Anaconda, and reflects great credit upon them, Task Force Rakkasan, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the United States Army, and the United States Air Force.
